In professional wrestling, the entrance theme does the work a film score spends two hours on. It has about eight seconds.

By the time the first note lands, the crowd already knows who is walking out, whether to cheer or boo, and what kind of match they are about to watch. That is a lot to carry with a guitar riff and some pyro, and it is why these songs outlive the careers they belonged to. Glass shattering still means Steve Austin. A single tolling bell still empties the arena of noise.

The rule here is narrower than it looks: you are picking the theme, not the wrestler. A beloved performer with a forgettable song loses to a mid-carder whose music was genuinely great, and that upset happens more often than anyone expects.
