Instant noodles are not defensible on any culinary ground and have carried more bad evenings than most restaurant meals ever will. Chicken soup is the one people bring to you rather than make for themselves, which puts it in a category of its own. Rice with a fried egg on top is what appears when there is genuinely nothing in the house, and it still counts.
