The Resident Evil Game That Still Haunts You

Resident Evil started in 1996 with a mansion, a handful of ink ribbons and a door-opening animation that doubled as a loading screen. Thirty years later the series has gone through fixed cameras, over-the-shoulder action, first-person horror and full remakes of its own classics, and almost every fan has a different idea of when it was at its best.

This bracket puts all of it in one field. Every main entry is here, from the original to Requiem, along with the four remakes and every console, handheld and arcade spin-off Capcom has released, including the light-gun games, the Outbreak co-op entries and the online shooters that did not last. Mobile titles, pachinko machines and games that are still unreleased are left out.

The original Resident Evil 2 and the 2019 remake are separate entries, and so are both versions of the first game, 3 and 4, so you may have to choose between a classic and its rebuild. Each card plays a trailer or footage of that exact game.
